You guys are all crazy, if you want some good raw kick ass rock n' roll, you need KISS' first album, and Hotter than Hell.
You don't have to be the best musician to write great songs. This has been proven for many, many moons. KISS aren't the greatest musicians, and even they admit that, even Ace has said that if he knew he was going to influance so many guitarists, he probably would have practiced more, lol, but it wasn't always JUST about the show, especially to all the members.
It is on the later 70's KISS albums that so much studio trickery and studio musicians came in from time to time. This was partly because of Gene's power trip, and partly because of Ace and Peters addictions. I think people would be surprised at how often this has happened to bands over the years. KISS just get shit because of their big stage production.
And in Ace's defense, he gets a lot of shit, but you know what, when they did their solo albums, his was the only one worth a shit, and he wrote a lot of the really great early KISS songs.
I find it really funny when people jump to conclusions, when they really don't know much about a band.
